daniel liebeskind

Hurray! The new addition to the Denver Art Museum by architect Daniel Libeskind is finally finished and is opening to the public this Saturday. I am so sad I will miss the opening--although don't feel sorry, I will be in Hawaii for a wedding... The original building by Gio Ponti was finished in 1971 and is a beautiful item to have in this town. The new contemporary wing will allow another 12 percent of the museums' collection to be exhibited in a novel take on interior spaces. A 6 year project, this culmination is really a testament to the fact that Colorado is truly expanding in its civic arena. Libeskind has created a magnificent site plan with soaring volumes, a feat of contemporary engineering. I found some cool pics of it, so click here.
