My favorite living artist from South America would hands down be Gabriel Orozco. Gabriel (b. 1962) is a Mexican postminimalist, born in Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico and educated in the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas and at the Madrid Circulo de Bellas Artes. He utilizes video mediums, drawings, and installations in addition to photographs and large and small scale sculptures. Gabriel Orozco creates associations between ignored objects in today's world and abstract concepts of fleeting time and movement, all innately beautiful.
