kelly b: bamboo gown

It is nice to know that you can black tie it in an eco bamboo gown. Kelly Barry, a designer with a degree in environmental science at CU Boulder and a BFA in textiles from California College of Arts and Crafts, debuted her first organic cotton collection the spring 2006. Her two year stint after university as a production manager and designer for a supplier of organic cotton garments along with her observation of the large demand for eco-friendly clothing helped her realize her vision of creating her own line. Kelly B is a fashionable line with an environmental and social consciousness.

Her website reminds us all that:
Organic cotton: cotton grown, processed, and produced without the use of pesticides and other toxic chemicals.
Fact: Conventional cotton (non-organic cotton) production is responsible for 25% of the world's insecticides and 10% of the world's pesticides.
