homeopathic techniques with toxic substances

Homeopathy is a subset of alternative medicine that aims to treat "like with like." The term "homeopathy" was coined by the German physician Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843) Homeopathic remedies are created by diluting an active ingredient in water to the point where no molecules of the substance remain. According to homeopaths, the water will retain a memory of the diluted substance and the therapeutic potency of a remedy can be increased by this dilution combined with vigorous shaking. This is akin to gemstone waters. Homeopathy views a sick person as having a disturbance of the "vital force". This is somewhat similair to the approach doctors and chemists are now taking to using poisonous venoms in parts using some peptides or enzymes in the poison to treat diseases. An article from the BBC news, explains how snake venom is being used to treat breast cancer. A further article from the National Geographic makes these same claims that snake venom has been use to slow the growth rate of cancerous tumors. Here are some related articles about the uses of frog poison in Wired discussing peptides and protein structures of the poison for potential uses of reducing high blood pressure, stopping blood clotting, replace conventional antibiotics, kill cancer tumors, protect bone marrow against chemotherapy, and make crops resistant to insect attack. More on the useful but deadly dart frog from Brazil, whom if touched has poison deadly enough to kill 10 humans. There is one further article at Neatorama discussing the snake & frog but also the scorpion, cone shell snails and gila monsters, who have use against brain cancer, extreme pain and type 2 diabetes respectively. I think I might just air kiss those little froggy princes.
