down the drain: don't kill the fish
Drains inevitably get plugged with hair/sludge, but don't ever reach for the conventional drain cleaner. If you did you'd be dumping chemicals straight into the water system. There are eco friendly alternatives that actually work wonders. Bio-flow from greenchem contains enzymes and bacteria that break down grease with a minty scent. The ingredients can irritate your skin and eyes so avoid splashing. Earth Enzymes from Ecos also works well for a drain back up, the granules are mixed with warm water and poured down the drain at night to set overnight, it is nontoxic and biodegradable too. Earth Enzymes is a great method for clearing and maintaining free flowing drains or clearing clogged septic tanks, and cesspools. It contains Sodium Sesquicarbonate, Bacterial mixtures, and Proteolytic Enzymes. There is also the CLR product in partnership with the EPA, a more eco friendly version that most products out there--but still the least clean of this line up. No more drano please.
