london design festival: sustainable design and events: trash luxe

Sustainability is everyone's main agenda these days, and it is no different at the London Design Festival , where throughout the city eco events are taking place for LDF 2007. At Liberty - London’s fashion emporium there will be an exhibition as part of the Festival to celebrate the creativity of salvage. The event called 'Trash Luxe' brings together designers to salvaging otherwise unwanted goods into luxurious pieces. This is my favorite design concept--the UPCYCLE! Designers will re-evaluate the concept of precious with a mend approach of existing objects which once tired, second-hand or unwanted imaginatively transform into a coveted object. Some participating designers include: Ineke Hans, Campana Brothers, Paul Cocksedge, Stuart Haygarth, Piet Hein Eek, Max Lamb, Randon International, Karen Ryan, Heath Nash and more.

At 100% Design, seminar programes and discussions on sustainable topics for design solutions, interiors and the built environment--20-23 September
