haute weather report: art and climate change

An exhibition at the BMOCA-Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art open from September 14th until December 21st features art from 51 individuals and collaborative groups about climate change. Besides addressing environmental degredation and ideas for renewal, "Weather Report" combines talks and events combining the art with socio-political activism. Most of the works are multimedia pieces a documentation of community action, waste, death, growth and renewal.
Photography by Joan Myers, mixed media by Ellen Levy, mixed media by Gayle Crites and photography by Chris Jordan (photographs of mass consumption) were my personal stand out favorites. The exhibition, part of EcoArts was curated by legendary critic and art historian Lucy Lippard.
Photos above are Antarctic by Joan Myers and two million plastic beverage bottles (the number used in the US every five minutes) by Chris Jordan.
