nikos floros: aluminum can couture

Nikos Floros, a Greek artist based in New York- created 14 ballgowns (complete with shoes) entirely out of used aluminum cans. The intensive 5 year project was completed entirely by hand and solo. The gowns were created to benefit an art exhibition/fundraiser in Greece this October for the construction of a new opera house in Athens.

Painstakingly created by weaving strips of aluminum cans (with a fine knowledge of couture construction), each piece took months to create. Floros recycled 20,000 soft drink cans that he bought and collected for this narrative about consumable products. Bravo Nikos!
