canstruction: art and food donation

“Audrey II: Feed Me” created by NK Architects of Jersey City, N.J., was the winner at the 11th annual Int. Canstruction Competition. Canstruction, is hosted by the Society for Design Administration (SDA) and state chapters of the AIA. It is an annual charity competition where design firms compete to build amazing structural art made entirely of full cans of food. Once the contest is over, all of the food used in 'canstruction' is donated to local food banks. Competitions take place in 76 cities across the US and Canada. Local winners send photos of their objects to be judged at the national AIA/SDA.

In 2007, 2 million pounds of food was donated to local food banks.
