kristen hassenfeld: dans la lune: exhibit in houston

I love Kristen Hassenfeld's current exhibit at the Rice Gallery in Houston (until December 9th). Her large pendants of intricately assembled and embellished paper are baroque maximalist expressions using only tissue and vellum. Internal lighting elements create beautiful shading enhancing the detail with a soft glow.

'Dans la lune is a French idiom for daydreaming, and with these works, Hassenfeld transports viewers into a moonstruck world of decorative excess, where exquisitely crafted objects satiate desires and soothe pangs of longing.'
