moss: earth velvet

I love natural earth velvety moss growing along forest floors and on fallen logs. Mosses are small, soft plants (most 1–10 cm tall) commonly growing close together in clumps or mats in damp or shady locations. With no flowers or seeds they reproduce via spore capsules.

Approximately 10,000 species of moss are in the classification Bryophyta.
