blank studio: xeros project phoenix arizona

Blank Spaces architectural studio created this fabulous home, called the Xeros Project. Located on a site within a late 50's era neighborhood in Phoenix Arizona, the house is a modern masterpiece. Although not directly an eco built home, several environmentally responsive decisions were made during its creation: the home has an opaque wall that is facing the bright westerly sunny afternoons and a more exposed south and eastern facade still somewhat shaded by an external layer of metal shade mesh. The once abandoned lot was long and narrow, so when designing, the architects created the smallest building footprint to allow for maximum amount of site vegetation. Low to zero water vegetation enhances the shading effect.
